Hayflower and Quiltshoe are celebrating a big birthday!
Hayflower and Quiltshoe have been delighting readers since 1989, so this year we are celebrating the series' 35 years of success! The first book in the series - called Hayflower and Quiltshoe - began the long collaboration of sisters Sinikka Nopola (1953-2021) and Tiina Nopola as children's authors.
The new edition based on the classic story is illustrated by Salla Savolainen, but the story has remained the same:
Why is it always so boring at home? The blanket slipper asks the Hayflower. I've had enough of Hanna's soups! Kattilakoski's sisters run away to Alibullen ladies next door, where delicious pastries are served. But the adventure really picks up speed only when the girls put their thumbs up and hop on a passing by truck.
When the girls don't come home, their parents, Matti and Hanna, give the police the identification marks: two metre-tall girls wearing a skirt and trousers. The officers Isonapa and Rillirousku start the search right away.
It all started with this story.
Bye then, dry balls!
Hayflower, Quiltshoe and the dancing officer - the classic from 2003 re-illustrated by Salla Savolainen.
The movie based on Sinikka and Tiina Nopola's popular book series Hayflower, Quiltshoe ja the angry student will premiere on February 14, 2020.
