The author of over 90 children's books received the honorary title in the University of Helsinki in May 2025.

The conferral of the title honorary doctor is the highest distinction awarded by the university and it is granted to individuals that are recognised for their exceptionally significant merits.
Tiina and Sinikka Nopola are among Finland’s most well-known children’s authors. Over the course of her career, Tiina, together with Sinikka, has published more than 90 children’s novels and picture books, which have had a considerable impact on the development of literacy skills in Finland. Their work is also widely reflected in Finnish children’s culture.
