Tiina Nopola has received an honorary doctorate from the University of Helsinki!

University of Helsinki bestows honorary doctorates on children’s author Tiina Nopola.

The conferral of the title honorary doctor is the highest distinction awarded by the university and it is granted to individuals that are recognised for their exceptionally significant merits.

Tiina and Sinikka Nopola are among Finland’s most well-known children’s authors. Over the course of her career, Tiina, together with Sinikka, has published more than 90 children’s novels and picture books, which have had a considerable impact on the development of literacy skills in Finland. Their work is also widely reflected in Finnish children’s culture.

The title of honorary doctor is a significant recognition of Tiina Nopola’s long-term, influential work in promoting reading among children and young people, as well as in advancing Finnish literature
